People employed in different sectors of economy by type of owners: public, for-profit and non-profit are working in different organizational settings, which suggests differences in motivations and values of these employees, which could impact health and performance indicators. In the present research people working in Russian for-profits and non-profits are subject to a cross-sectoral comparison based on the Self-Determination theory, Moral Foundation Theory and Theory of Basic Human Values. Based on the direct comparison I found that people working in non-profit sector in Russia are more autonomously driven, they place a higher value on benevolence and hedonism values, whereas for-profits employees have a more controlled motivation.
