In the context of Russian art history, the Russian kinetic art is considered in the framework of 20th century art, which was interrupted as a direction in the 1980s. Nevertheless, exhibiting the works of contemporary Russian artist Platon Infante (1978) as part of exhibition projects devoted to kinetism, allows to talk about the continuity of the latter’s developments in the author’s work. The study is an attempt to articulate the creative method of Platon Infante, previously unexplored in art history in the context of Russian contemporary art using the heritage of Russian kinetic art of the 1920-1970s as an example. In the course of the work, the following tasks were set: a brief overview of the history of Russian kinetic art of the 1920-1970s, an analysis of the biography and work of Platon Infante, a comparative analysis of his creative method with the methods of kinetists and the identification of original creative ideas in Infante's artistic statement. After solving the set tasks, it was possible to reveal that Infante is not an intentional successor of kinetism, but is loyal to his development using the plastic language found in its framework.
