Factors Stimulating Formation of Urban Activity Centers at Night

Student: Parfenova Daria

Supervisor: Ruslan Goncharov

Faculty: Faculty of Urban and Regional Development

Educational Programme: Urban Development and Spatial Planning (Master)

Year of Graduation: 2020

This study is aimed at describing the spatial structure of Moscow at night, as well as to identify formative factors of centers of night activity. In order to develop the model that allows you to identify the centers of night activity, we developed our own methodology, which involves evaluating an averaged model of the spatial structure of the night city during a week. The main hypothesis that transport accessibility is a key factor in the formation of night centers was disproved by evaluating the regression model. This gives every reason to continue to uphold the position that besides transport accessibility, there are other more significant factors influencing the formation of centers of night activity.
