This paper considers two pairs of spatial prepositions of the Russian language is / s, v / na. In the speech of native Russian speakers, you can often hear incorrect use of these prepositions in some constructions. For example, from Moscow, on the pocket. Because of such cases, the speaker's speech becomes colloquial, sometimes slang. The purpose of the work is to find out whether the place of residence affects the choice of the studied preposition for certain words. The study presents work with various dictionaries and reference books, with the Internet corpus of the Russian language (GIKR), and also presents the results of an experiment in which residents of Russian cities (mainly from Khabarovsk and Saint Petersburg) took part. Keywords Russian language, spatial prepositions, preposition «is», preposition «s», preposition «v», preposition «na»
