The Emergence and Development of Soviet Cryptography: Cryptologists and Power in the USSR, 1917-1941

This work is devoted to the history of the development of Soviet cryptography in 1917-1941, as well as to the contradictory attitude of the Soviet government towards encryption workers during this period. The purpose of the work was to show the history of the development of Soviet cryptography in 1917-1941, as well as various internal and foreign policy factors that influenced from-carrying of Soviet power to encrypters. During this study, the conditions for the emergence of Soviet cryptographic service during the confrontation between red and white armies and its development during the interwar period were analyzed; identify and investigate the applications of cryptographic methods; to show various fates of Soviet encryption workers in 1917-1941.
