W. Jensen's Gradiva had a great influence on the world of surrealism and psychoanalysis. Sigmund Freud used it for research in his article, "Delirium and Dreams in Jensen's Gradiv." This article has glorified the story. Salvador Dali started his new Gradiva series, inspired by Jensen's motives and images, in parallel with Freud's research. Thus, Gradiva became a symbol, and the story gave rise to a new mythology. The images of Gradiva now live in the art not only of Salvador Dali, but also of such surrealistic artists and directors as Andre Masson, Andre Breton Allen Rob-Grillet, Giorgio Albertazzi and others. However, the paradox of the story itself is that very few literary works have been written about it, especially in Russian-language philology. This study examines the literary concept of the novel, as well as the issue of the influence of Gradiva on the development of psychoanalysis and surrealism.
