This project presents the hardware and software complex “Railway inspector”, which is able to automatically move along the railway track and detect defects on the rail head. With the help of the developed complex, the user will be able to control its movement and track its location. A software and hardware complex of sensors for detecting defects in the rail head will be located on the cart. The development uses ultrasonic, optical and electromagnetic sensors that can detect defects not only on the rail surface, but also inside. One of the options for an optical sensor was designed personally to test the possibility of using it in a complex; for processing analog data from such a sensor, firmware for the ”Milandr” debug board was written with the possibility of further improvement for data collection. A prototype of an electromagnetic sensor based on a planar sensitive element was also designed, experiments were carried out, with the fixation of the results and subsequent analysis. A flaw detector circuit based on the K1986BE92QI microcontroller was developed. At this stage, the processing of the received signals and measurement results is performed by the microcontroller. The research report contains a description of the steps taken in the development process, as well as recommendations for further development of the project.

Student Theses at HSE must be completed in accordance with the University Rules and regulations specified by each educational programme.

Summaries of all theses must be published and made freely available on the HSE website.

The full text of a thesis can be published in open access on the HSE website only if the authoring student (copyright holder) agrees, or, if the thesis was written by a team of students, if all the co-authors (copyright holders) agree. After a thesis is published on the HSE website, it obtains the status of an online publication.

Student theses are objects of copyright and their use is subject to limitations in accordance with the Russian Federation’s law on intellectual property.
