Automated Error Detection and Correction System for Learner Essays in English Produced by Students with Russian Native Language

We propose a natural language processing system to efficiently correct different typer of errors in erroneous learner texts, including lexical errors and adapt the system to the texts of Russian student learners. After describing the state of the research field, we describe the gathering of data from various learner text datasets, outline the features of the T5 model that prompted us to choose it, present out training procedure and discuss the outcomes. We also discuss the future development of our solution.
