The economic development of the country requires the formation of the young generation, especially students of engineering and technical areas of preparation, thinking of innovators, from the educational system, but the psychological and pedagogical methods of forming the thinking of the innovator have not yet been developed. Accordingly, the problem is that the existing Russian education system is uncompetitive in the world market in the field of training people who can make a significant contribution to improving the country's innovative index and the development of the country's economy. This final qualification work is devoted to the creation of a special training course aimed at forming the innovator’s thinking among students of technical areas of training, as well as the development of tools for assessing the level of development of the innovator’s thinking components and advanced training courses for faculty. As part of the study, the main characteristics and components of the innovator’s thinking were identified on the basis of determining the stages of creating innovation, methods, conditions and forms of training were identified that allow these components to be formed. A special course for students and a continuing education program for faculty members were developed and tested to effectively integrate the developed special course into the educational program. Also, the conditions for introducing a special course into the educational process of a technical university were determined and its impact on the formation and development of the components of the innovator’s thinking was evaluated.
