Impact of Energy Transition Goals on Strategies of Energy Companies

This study examins the impact of the goals of the fourth “energy transition” on energy company strategies using literature analysis on strategic management, analysis of statistics on the energy system, and case studies on the “energy transition”. After studying and systematizing all the characteristics of the "energy transition", an analysis of the official documentation of a list of selected foreign and Russian energy companies, including companies of the oil and gas industry, was carried out . Based on the analysis of the data obtained as a result of the study using the above methods, a strategic analysis was carried out and the goals of the companies in the "energy transition", applied technologies, emission reduction programs and in general the participation of "traditional" energy companies in untypical markets were analyzed. A more detailed strategic analysis was conducted for the selected company. In accordance with the results obtained, a summary table has been compiled with conclusions on 6 large energy companies, reflecting most of their technologies and goals corresponding to fourth "energy transition".
