Improving the Efficiency of the Logistics Company Through the Introduction of Specialized Containers (on the Example of the Company SyntezRail)

Problem Statement. In order to successfully transfer the cargo, it is necessary to ensure its safety, by observing the necessary regimes of transshipment, rational placement in cargo areas and the formation of conditions for maintaining the quality of goods during transportation. In technology and organization of cargo transportation, containerization of the transportation process is considered the main direction. Container cargo transportation has been successfully used for a long time on international as well as on domestic transport systems. The essence of the system of container transportation of goods lies in the fact that the goods are transported from the start to the end point in a single container, the container, which at points of transshipment is transferred from one mode of transport to another. Thanks to the use of containers, this type of transportation has undoubtedly won the lead in the logistics industry. Container transportation becomes profitable due to the automation of the transportation process, reducing transportation costs and avoiding heavy physical labor, increasing the safety of goods from the sender to the consignee. The aim of the work is to improve logistics activities and also to increase the efficiency of Synthesis Rail company through the introduction of tank containers in order to reduce the cost of transportation of goods, as well as to expand the customer base. To solve this goal the following tasks will be worked out: · To analyze the activities of the company, the company's place in the market, financial and economic indicators, the organizational structure of the enterprise · Perform an analysis of the theoretical aspects of the company's logistics system: its fleet, calculate profitability. · Analyze the causes of major problems. · Suggest the use of tank containers to increase company efficiency. Delimitations of the study. The object of the research is the container logistics company LLC SyntezRail, which is part of GlobalTrans, one of the largest holdings in the freight rail transportation market in Russia and the CIS. This study will take into account one of twelve companies which holding GlobalTrans includes, because they perform similar functions and operations, but with different fleet. SyntezRail LLC manages the fleet of the latest specialized large-capacity containers for transportation of grinding balls, ferroalloys, steel coils, providing the need for transportation of metallurgical products. By combining professionals in the field of logistics, forwarding and customs legislation, the company’s management has created a strong team that successfully solves the tasks. Synthesis Rail takes 3rd place in the market with 6% after the Polish company. However, the company faces new difficulties in its work, such as: fluctuations in demand; consolidation of shipments from different suppliers; the provision of services that take into account individual customer requirements.
