The impact of economic sanctions of US and EU against Russia on the activity of Russian credit organizations

The relevance of the topic depends on the current expanding use of US and EU restrictive measures against a number of countries including Russian Federation. Objective: to study economic sanctions of US and EU against Russia and the influence they exert on the activity of Russian credit organizations. Results: research gives the definition and studies different types of economic sanctions. The author examines US and EU sanctions regimes against Russia and evaluates the impact they exert on the activity of Russian credit organizations. The research concludes that despite imposed sanctions Russian banking system was able to adjust and operate in the changed environment. Development and implementation of sanctions policies, inclusion of sanctions clauses into contracts with clients, creation of professional sanctions compliance team remain the key means of sanctions risk minimization.
