The main research problem is how to use the European experience in the protection of geographical indications to improve the efficiency of the process of including this intellectual property object in Russian law. The final qualifying work consists of the content, introduction, three chapters, conclusion, bibliography and appendices. Each Chapter is divided into paragraphs. The first Chapter is devoted to the international legal regulation of the protection of geographical indications. International treaties and doctrinal views on the use of geographical indications are analyzed, and similar concepts are distinguished, for example, "name of the place of origin of goods" and "geographical indications", "indications of origin" and "geographical indications". The second Chapter focuses entirely on European regulation. Its development and key provisions are analyzed, and attention is also paid to the process of registration of geographical indications in the EU. The third Chapter is devoted to the protection of geographical indications in the Russian Federation. By comparing it with European legislation, an analysis was made and conclusions were drawn about the need to improve regulation in order to minimize possible risks, taking into account the problematic aspects identified in it.
