Expired: a Visual Novel

The main goal of this research is to analyze the visual novel as a genre and highlight methods it uses to engage players with minimum gameplay and visual in it. The part of the research is a comparison between comic and novel visuals to find possible similarities and an impact of photorealistic image on players. Additionally, this paper will explore realistic visuals in novels. This study applies a combination of formal and semiotic approach, as well as game analysis. Subsequently, tools of the visual novel are categorized by their type and role in a game, moreover, are allocated instruments to work with realistic images.
