Legal Protection Problems of a Character

This work examines the problems of legal protection of a character as an object of copyright. The work will identify the shortcomings of legal regulation regarding the list of requirements, upon observance of which the "character" is recognized as an object of copyright, the approaches in doctrine and judicial practice on issues related to the content of these requirements will be analyzed, with the qualification of violators' actions in the case of non-contractual use of characters, and balanced solutions are proposed to eliminate these shortcomings and contradictions. In addition, in this work, the topic of parallel creativity is subject to detailed research, as well as the consequences of creating a character based on an existing one. The research results can be further used in other studies in the relevant field of knowledge.
