This research investigates such problematic issue as review of determinants that can lead to failures in M&A deals. With event study method in short-term period we calculate cumulative abnormal return for each buyer-company who takes part in a M&A deal in BRICS countries during 2010-2020 years and find the relationship between factors and cumulative abnormal return, using regressions and statistical tests. The main results determine that such factors as payments with cash and small size of a deal lead to failures. Differences in cultures and languages do not influence the results of a deal. Deals between companies who perform in one industry would rather be successful than unsuccessful.
