In recent decades, the state of the environment has been rapidly deteriorating, and, according to scientific studies, this has a negative impact on human health. In this paper, we study the relationship between poor air quality and respiratory diseases in Russian regions using panel data with fixed effects for the period 2000-2019. It was found that an increase in the volume of emissions from stationary and mobile sources and a deterioration in the overall level of air pollution lead to an increase in morbidity. As a result of the work, it was concluded that in the regions of Russia, with an increase in the standard of living, air quality decreases.
