Statistical Study of Trends in the Development of Online Education in Russian Universities

At this stage of society's development, education is undergoing tremendous change. Over the last decade, Internet technologies have been actively used all over the world, which have helped to make education accessible to all comers and to develop an individual approach to the needs of each person. The market of online educational platforms has formed, the study of which seems relevant both for educational organizations, universities and teachers, as well as for modern users of various forms of distance learning. Obtaining education is a fundamental human right, and its effectiveness and accessibility contributes to sustainable development of all spheres of social activity. In the framework of writing this work the study was conducted in two parts: 1. analysis and comparison of the results of two online surveys of students studying in the HSE. The surveys were conducted during the first and second waves of the pandemic. The statistical apparatus of hypothesis testing was used to analyze the respondents' answers. 2. In the second part of the work a regression model is built to estimate the influence of various factors on the popularity of mass online courses among students.
