The relevance of the study lies in the growing need on the part of sports associations to popularize their sport in Russia. The study describes a large number of examples of attempts to popularize sports games. The purpose of this research work was to identify and formulate the main substantive elements of the media image of a sports game, which make it possible to popularize it among the broad masses of the country's population. According to the hypothesis of this study, these elements are a fundamental emphasis on the history of sports play, its current sports performance and the significance of play for humans The research was divided into two main areas. The first is to study the position of sports media projects in the historical context, as well as their relevance for society and states. The second is the study of the possibilities and details of the media project as a phenomenon and as a tool for popularizing sports games. After studying the materials and conducting historical, semiotic analyzes, as well as other research methods, the author of the work made the following conclusions: 1. The state is most interested in promoting sports and sports games. It is also often the main driving force behind the promotion of a healthy lifestyle. 2. The media image of a sports game includes all its content elements, the change of which can affect its status in the media: history, rules, information background, personalities of athletes. 3. The history of the sports game, as well as the current sports results and the significance of the game for a person are the main factors around which the media image of the game is built. In this regard, the reconstruction of the history of a sports game is a fundamental task for the creators of a sports media project. Based on the conclusions from the study, the author of the work proposed the creation of a multi-platform project "Age of Russian Rugby", which includes a documentary series (the core of the project) and an interactive site about the history, rules, essence and culture of the game. The text of the work lists a competitive analysis of similar projects, presents a marketing development plan, the relevance of the project as a whole. As a result, the Russian Rugby Union signed an agreement with the author of the study to create the developed project and is ready to provide financial assistance in the production.
