At the present time, world development is actively proceeding in the mainstream of globalization, an integral element of which has become the processes of population migration, inevitably affecting the socio-political aspects of the development of a region. A typical example of the special role of migration processes is the situation in a number of countries of the European Union (EU), the national situation of which has changed quite dramatically in connection with the Middle East crisis, which in the future may become a destabilizing factor in the development of this integration entity. An inevitable consequence of these processes is the development of a set of measures on migration problems at the level of the European Union. Migration policy in many EU member states is developing in line with tightening. In France, which is the locomotive of this movement, ideas are being put forward to revise the common European migration policy towards tightening. The ideas proposed by France in this regard can really be useful for other EU countries, and ultimately serve to reduce migration flows to Europe. In this regard, the purpose of this study is to identify the main features of the measures taken by the French leadership in the field of migration policy, as well as to assess the impact of these measures on the pan-European migration policy.
