The Analysis of Ethical Problems as Related to the Use of Modern Technology on the Example of the Series «Black Mirror» (2011-2019)

The academic paper is dedicated to the ethical problems as related to the use of modern technologies (the issue of cyberbullying, state surveillance, facial recognition, implant consciousness, etc). The case of tv-series ‘‘Black Mirror’’ was considered to evaluate the impact of modern technologies on people. To conduct a research, the academic papers, tv-series and literature, written by the authors of ‘‘Black Mirror’’ were analysed. The methods employed in the project proposal include the analysis of content and narrative analysis. The first part of the research is connected to the description of genre and dystopia in "Black Mirror". The analysis of the episodes of ‘‘Black Mirror’’, description of modern technologies and various ethical theories and how they can be used while analysing the episodes of ‘‘Black Mirror’’ are presented in the basic part of the research. The result of the academic paper is to learn previous experience on the issue and analyze both existing ethical issues as related to the use of modern technology, how they are covered in «Black Mirror» and establish framework for the future investigations.
