Educational Programme: Media Communications (Bachelor)

Year of Graduation: 2021

Beauty standards and women striving to achieve them have been a part of society for a long time. In most cases, it is not a personal desire of a woman, but a consequence of pressure from the church, patriarchal society and the functional requirements of the era. In today's world, beauty standards are broadcast through social media, television and fashion magazines. Hence, it is more important to spread information about how women feel under this pressure. Numerous studies confirm that beauty standards negatively affect not only women’s mental health and physical condition, but also their economic situation. The short-film, created within the framework of the diploma, has an educational purpose and is intended to change women’s perception of their beauty. It will be published on YouTube and will be made in the infotainment format. YouTube is an accessible platform for a wide audience, and the infotainment format is an effective way to attract and retain the audience's attention, due to the combination of information and entertainment in its form. The main method of the project is visual content creation. The short-film will illustrate the chronological changes in the world’s beauty standards and reveal the impact of beauty standards on society by using both classical and new techniques of infotainment in the narrative structure and audiovisual solutions.
