In the face of technological progress human capital considered to be a driving force of the economic growth in developed countries and a driver of innovation in international companies. Employees’ knowledge, qualifications and skills have become an asset that contributes to the establishment of the competitive advantages of international companies, mainly in IT-sector, whose role in the global economy has increased due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Most of tech giants are located in the United States, the country with the highest share of employees with technological skills in its workforce. This study aims to assess the role of highly qualified employees in the formation of competitive advantages of American IT-companies on the example of Microsoft company. The method of economic- mathematical modeling based on the concept of value added intellectual capital is used as the basis of this research.
