The global economy suffered a major external shock during the COVID-19 pandemic. Currently, most countries face challenges that are often perceived as contradictory: recovering from a recession and moving towards long-term sustainable growth. While the issue of sustainable development is becoming more and more relevant for the society, the concept of green recovery is becoming relevant as well. However, this link between recovery policies and sustainable development has not been fully explored. The purpose of this study is to assess the compliance of the anti-crisis measures of the largest countries during the pandemic with the principles of sustainable development related to the environment. The methodological basis of the research is based on such methods as comparative analysis and case studies. The findings may be useful for those who want to understand, whether there is a link between economic recovery and the environment.
