Year of Graduation: 2021

In modern conditions of the development of trade and economic relations, mega-regional agreements form the concept of interaction between countries and regions, which, on the one hand, contributes to the deepening of cooperation between the participants of the MRTAs, and on the other hand, has a deep impact on the international trading system. One of the significant examples of the MRTAs is the EU-Japan Economic Partnership Agreement. The first chapter of the study describes the main theoretical approaches to mega-regionalism, and also analyzes the main directions of trade and economic cooperation between the European Union and Japan. The second chapter of the master's thesis reflects the features of the negotiation process on the conclusion of the EU-Japan Economic Partnership Agreement. At the same time, the specifics of the EU-Japan Economic Partnership Agreement are revealed and the consequences of the Agreement for the trade and economic relations of the parties to the agreement are identified. The third chapter of the study provides a comparative analysis of two mega-regional agreements: the EU-Japan Economic Partnership Agreement and the Comprehensive Regional Economic Partnership in the context of a potential free trade agreement between the EU and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations. At the same time, the master's thesis determines the optimal directions for using the provisions of the EU-Japan Economic Partnership Agreement in international practice.
