Today the world economy is in a state of constant change under the influence of the rapid development of technologies for the production of goods and services. Over time, instead of the concept of simple forms of doing business, in which goods supplied abroad, the production processes of which were almost entirely focused on the national or foreign market, appeared more complex and complex approaches to organizing business, to which international companies began to switch. Global value chains allow for the implementation and maintenance of a high level of interaction between countries in world trade. Despite the decline in GVCs caused by crises and trade wars, for countries they remain one of the most important indicators of participation in world trade, which contributes to economic growth and the development of national enterprises. Germany, one of the most important players in the global economy, actively participates in GVCs, trying to get the most out of itself against the backdrop of increasing competition from other countries. To assess the prospects for Germany's largest export industries in GVCs, it is necessary to assess the degree of Germany's dependence on the supply of intermediate products from other countries and analyze the impact of the share of foreign value added on the country's gross exports, taking into account the current trend towards a reduction in GVCs in the world economy.
