Sport has become a significant element of all humankind's life, and the issues of the legal regulation of the employment of athletes and coaches attached great importance both in Russia and abroad. This research investigates the features of the legal relations connected with athletes and coaches' employment in the Russian Federation and France. The aim of this study is to make a comparative analysis of the labor regulation of these subjects in Russia and abroad. Modern legislators have analyzed this topic based on statistical data and scientific literature and identified some gaps in the legal regulation of athletes and coaches' employment. So, certain proposals were developed towards the improvement and development of labor relations with athletes and coaches. The choice of France as the analyzed state is due to the fact that this country, like Russia, belongs to the continental legal family. Besides, in France, there is a Sports Code that regulates labor relations with athletes and coaches. It allows resolving a wide range of legal issues which arise in practice. In this case, the foreign experience can contribute to the development and improvement of the legal regulation of the work of athletes and coaches in the Russian Federation. The research paper consists of introduction, the main part, which includes three chapters, conclusion and list of references. The first chapter is devoted to the peculiarities of the legal regulation of the labor of athletes in Russia and France. It also provides a comparative analysis of the features of the legal regulation of work of athletes in both countries. The second chapter is focused on the comparative analysis of rights and obligations of coaches in Russia and France. Finally, the third chapter is devoted to situation with athletes and coaches during the pandemic.
