This work is devoted to the study of the relationship between the image of the human world and the level of existential escapism (EE). The problem of the work is the lack of knowledge of the phenomenon of existential escapism from a psychological perspective, as well as the lack of research on the features of perception of the surrounding reality of people with these traits. The first chapter provides a theoretical overview of the phenomenon of escapism, its classification, the definition of EE, and its characteristics. Besides, it describes the concept of the image of the world, its components, is considered, and the alleged connection between the EE and the image of the world is justified. As a result, in the first chapter, there is a theoretical model of the features of the image of the world of people with a high level of EE is formulated. In the second chapter, an empirical study was conducted to test the obtained theoretical model. To do this, we used one author's questionnaire of existential escapism and two semantic differentials on the image of the world. Due to empirical testing and the found correlations and relationships, the hypotheses were partially confirmed, which allowed us to refine the theoretical model of the features of the image of the world of people with pronounced manifestations of EE.
