This work is dedicated to the 3D object detection problem in the wild conditions. The main goal of this research is to design a neural network architecture capable of quickly and accurately enough predicting spatial information about the location of an object using a single RGB image. This task is called "Monocular 3D Object Detection". It was chosen to use the Objectron dataset as a training set, as it is the state-of-the-art and largest dataset for 3D detection. Objectron consists of household items, which currently receive too little attention in the field of 3D detection. This paper presents three 3D detectors capable of predicting a 3D bounding box of an object in real time. These detectors are based on state-of-the-art convolutional neural network architectures, each having a different strength in terms of quality or speed. The results of this work contribute to the development of the 3D object detection field, and can find its application, for example, in robotics and augmented reality tasks.

Student Theses at HSE must be completed in accordance with the University Rules and regulations specified by each educational programme.

Summaries of all theses must be published and made freely available on the HSE website.

The full text of a thesis can be published in open access on the HSE website only if the authoring student (copyright holder) agrees, or, if the thesis was written by a team of students, if all the co-authors (copyright holders) agree. After a thesis is published on the HSE website, it obtains the status of an online publication.

Student theses are objects of copyright and their use is subject to limitations in accordance with the Russian Federation’s law on intellectual property.

In the event that a thesis is quoted or otherwise used, reference to the author’s name and the source of quotation is required.
