Augmented Reality in Business

For a concept that is over than 60 years old, augmented reality surprisingly finds its applicability in various areas – such as archaeology, urban design, visual art, commerce, etc. Even though solutions in the AR field have been not available to the general public for years (i.e. most of them were used for professional purposes), its reception by ordinary users due to technological advances in the production of modern smartphones may be possible. This paper aims at depicting a study regarding AR’s applicability in the business sphere, specifically, analyzing its suitability for the tourism area. The results are expected to be the overview of the possible use of augmented reality in aforementioned fields and means of its proper implementation via a construction of a full-fledged prototype of application, assisting tourists by providing information about surrounding POIs using device’s camera and user’s location.
