Generation Z, the generation of people currently entering workforce or studying at universities, high schools, or secondary schools, is at the centre of this paper. Although this cohort has been extensively researched over the previous years in relation to different areas, there is still a lack of research connected with Generation Z in the field of foreign language teaching. The relevance of this topic nowadays is unquestionable, as it is vital for educators to be aware of their students’ psychological traits and learning differences. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to explore how Generation Z learn foreign languages and to determine what teaching methods should be employed to facilitate their learning. In order to fulfil the purpose, a survey among university students was conducted and seven university teachers of English were interviewed. Based on the analysis of the findings, inferences were made as to how Generation Z students should be taught foreign languages, taking their peculiarities into account. As a result, a list of recommendations and suggestions for foreign language teachers who work with Generation Z was complied.
