Nowadays the topic of separatism is becoming more and more relevant, as regional conflicts escalate, and many regions, especially European countries, want to gain full independence. Many researchers are studying the issue of separatism, trying to understand its causes and prerequisites. However, most of these studies are devoted to the political aspect of this phenomenon. Attention is paid to the issues of political separation of regions, military regional conflicts and clashes, as well as the confrontation of parties representing regional interests. But the cultural aspect of separatism is no less important, since one of the main reasons for the emergence of such conflicts is the difference in the cultures of representatives of different peoples living on the same territory. This study examines the cultural aspect of separatism on the example of the countries of the European Union and its impact on the development of regional separatism. Keywords: separatism, cultural aspect, the European Union.
