Phenomenology of Authentic Choice

The difficulty of studying an authentic choice is that it is almost impossible to define it reliably using traditional research methods in classical psychology. However, it is possible to approach the phenomenology of authentic choice using qualitative methods aimed at an integrated description of the experience arising in the individual experience of respondents. Research question of the paper: What are the phenomenological features of authentic choice? The theoretical chapter presents an overview and analysis of approaches to the study of authenticity and choice, on the basis of which the author's understanding of authentic choice is constructed, and the subjective features are highlighted and the phenomenological content of authentic choice is described. In the empirical chapter, the subjective features of AC identified in the theoretical analysis are verified and clarified in the course of the qualitative research conducted. The plan of the empirical study is described, the results of the conducted work, their generalization and interpretation are presented. As a result of the study, the subjective attributes of authentic choice highlighted in the theory were confirmed and additional attributes were discovered. The research revealed themes that are reflected in the choice process and contribute to a better understanding of the process. Based on the empirical data, the content of authentic choice was described, allowing for a more complete study of the phenomenon. Thus, we were able to answer the posed research question.
