Linguistics, culture and global power are all interrelated domains, playing a significant role in shaping one another. The 20th century has seen a shift from national divergence under the era of modernism towards postmodern homogeneity, thus changing linguocultural norms and national identities. What is the impact of the spread of global media outlets on the linguocultural divergence? This paper aims to answer this question through evaluation of the case of contemporary Russia and its identity.
