The dissertation is devoted to a comparative analysis of the legal framework for the protection of foreign citizens subject to transfer to their homeland for further serving their sentences, as well as extradition from the Russian Federation. The author examines, firstly, the existing national and international legal frameworks for combating both transnational and domestic crime and, secondly, the regulatory mechanisms that are applied in relation to the legal institution, such as the extradition of a person for criminal prosecution or execution of a sentence and extradition issues. Based on the results of the study of the accumulated practical and theoretical material, the author comes to the conclusion that the institution of extradition of a person from the point of view of procedural aspects of implementation, currently requires a thorough scientific study, which was the reason for the writing of the presented work. The author defines the essence of the institution of extradition of persons for criminal prosecution or execution of a sentence in Russian criminal proceedings, its significance, industry affiliation, current state and the main desirable directions of development.
