Year of Graduation: 2021

Previously, on the Russian sample, the well-being of Russians has been studied through the prism of intercultural attitudes towards migrants. We have also examined this through the prism of attitudes towards nationalism and patriotism. In addition, the aim of this study was to examine the role of perceived threat and cultural distance in the relationship between attitudes and the well-being of Russians as predictors and moderators. The results showed a positive correlation between nationalism and life satisfaction, and revealed the role of cultural distance and threat as moderators of the relationship between tolerance and self-esteem and life satisfaction. The findings may prove useful for intercultural policy development, as manipulation of these constructs may help to improve the psychological well-being of Russians. Key words: cultural distance, perceived threat, nationalism, patriotism, intercultural attitudes, well-being.
