Somatic Regression of the Dermatology Patients during Psychoanalytic Therapy

Therapeutic regression in general, and somatic regression in particular, are one of the key components of psychoanalytic work the patient. Cases of «malignant» therapeutic regression (which includes somatic regression ) force the new and profound research of it, including the issues of analysability of certain groups of patients and whether they have indications for psychoanalytic treatment. The paper raises various issues about the nature of therapeutic regression, the conditions for the formation of malignant and non-malignant therapeutic regression, and the certain features of therapeutic regression with neurotic, borderline and psychotic patients. The paper also reflects the attempt to provide with comprehensive understanding of the nature of somatic regression and the conditions of its formation from the positions of the French and American schools of psychoanalysis, as well as the features of the somatic response of patients with skin deseases.
