The Effect of Demographic Characteristics on Employee Turnover: Evidence from the Russian Logistic Company

Results and development of a company are highly dependent on employees’ performance. Loss of valuable employees, hiring and training new workers significantly affect internal activity and are very expensive. Organizations want to understand factors that affect employee turnover rate and decrease it. This paper’s goal is to analyze characteristics of former employees of the Russian logistics company and define which demographic characteristics affect employees’ turnover and to find out if they significantly affect employees’ intentions to leave the company. To achieve this goal, the company provided two internal datasets with different demographic characteristics of former workers, who left the company in 2020 and beginning of 2021 year. The logistic regression is used to analyze demographic characteristics of former workers and define their significance. Results of the project will show the company influence of demographic characteristics on employee turnover, define another reasons of employee turnover which should be reviewed in the future and which departments and functions should be monitored and controled by companies.
