Year of Graduation: 2021

In modern sociology there is a vast theoretical and empirical literature devoted to the impact of social capital on career success. However, such studies show contradictory results. This discrepancy may be explained by different socio-cultural and geographical contexts, as well as by the fact that researchers consider various strategies for using social capital in the process of job search and use dissimilar indicators to measure social capital and career success. In this paper we will study recent graduates of Moscow universities who represent a rather specific social group. Empirical studies on other groups show contradictory results, which makes it difficult to transfer them to graduates of Moscow universities. Therefore, we will evaluate the impact of social capital on objective and subjective indicators of early career success of graduates of Moscow universities.
