Multimodal Means of Address: Computer Research Based on the Material of Russian and English Languages

This graduation paper examines prosodic and kinetic characteristics used in address forms. The purpose of the study is to analyze and compare multimodal means of addresses in Russian and English. The material is fragments from the talk shows "Naedine so vsemy", "Vecherniy Urgant", "TheEllenShow", "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon". The analysis of the material was carried out using computer programs Praat and Elan. In the course of the work, such parameters as the pitch, the intensity of the voice, tempo, pauses, as well as gestures of the hands, head and direction of gaze when addressing were considered.
