Student: Alborova Alina

Supervisor: Oleg Durandin

Faculty: Faculty of Humanities (Nizhny Novgorod)

Educational Programme: Fundamental and Applied Linguistics (Bachelor)

Year of Graduation: 2021

The paper is devoted to the application of word embeddings to tasks of idioms processing in Russian texts. The following tasks were chosen: synonymous idioms detection (paraphrase) and idiom type and token classification, i.e. sense disambiguation task. Experiments show the superiority of the contextual method over the non-contextual one and the possibility of using a smaller amount of training data in terms of the number of contexts and their length, as well as the independence of the quality of the method from the use of a multilingual model compared to the Russian-language one.
