The video game development industry is growing rapidly. Numerous game studios and developers are involved in the creation of large-scale and content-rich video games. Traditionally, video games are products of consumption and entertainment. However, some media artists approach video games not as objects of escapism and consumption, but as tools and materials for creating works of art. This genre of art is called “in-game art”. The developing genre of in-game art represents a field that deserves significant attention and scholarly inquiry. Despite its potential and relevance, the term “in-game art” has not yet achieved widespread recognition within artistic circles and academic discourse. Because in-game art is a new genre, there are not many established practices for creating it yet. It emphasizes the need for further exploration, experimentation, and innovation within the realm of in-game art to fully realize its artistic potential and cultural significance.
