Foresight and STI Governance no 4, 2018

The new issue of the Foresight and STI Governance journal is devoted to the Future of Energy — the prospects of the global energy sector in the context of the fourth technological evolution and sustainable development strategies.

Liliana Proskuryakova Made a Presentation at the International Renewable Energy Congress

At the beginning of June, the Skolkovo Innovation Centre hosted the 4th International Congress REENCON. Liliana Proskuryakova, Leading Researcher at the ISSEK Laboratory for Science and Technology Studies, presented the report 'Renewable Energy 2030: Global Challenges and Long-Term Innovation Development Trends'.

BRICS Scientists Supported Establishing Energy Research Platform

At the end of May, one of the largest South African cities Johannesburg hosted the 10th anniversary BRICS Academic Forum 'Envisioning Inclusive Development Through a Socially Responsive Economy'. Liliana Proskuryakova, Director of the HSE ISSEK National Contact Centre for International Academic Mobility, presented the Russian initiative to establish BRICS Energy Research Platform.

Meeting Global Energy Challenges

Two international summits took place in Beijing (China) on 6-9 June 2017: the Eighth Clean Energy Ministerial Meeting (CEM8), and the Second Ministerial Meeting on Innovation (Mission Innovation, MI-2). The events’ shared theme was meeting global challenges with innovations and designing common clean energy solutions. Liliana Proskuryakova, the Leading Researcher at the HSE ISSEK Research Laboratory for Science and Technology Studies, was a member of the official Russian delegation.

Can the Future Economy Develop Without Increasing in Energy Consumption?

On April 3, 2017, the traditional HSE and International Energy Prize “Global Energy” joint foresight session was held at the Higher School of Economics, marking the announcement of the Prize. Its participants discussed structural changes in the energy sector until 2050, in particular, global trends in this sector, conservative and visionary scenarios for its development and proposals for politicians.

Renewable Energy 2030: Global Challenges and Long-Term Innovation Development Trends

The analytical report presents the results of the foresight project “Investigation of Global Challenges and Long-Term Trends in Innovative Development in the Sphere of Renewable Energy Sources”, conducted by the HSE ISSEK with information and financial support of “Renova Group”.

On June 28, the first cohort graduated from the programme. Before the ceremony, Rae Kwon Chung, Principal Advisor on Climate Change at the Executive Office of the Secretary-General of the United Nations and a member of Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change which was awarded Nobel peace prize in 2007, delivered a lecture on Reformulating Economics to Serve Sustainable Development.
