Choosing HSE University

Two years ago, I took the online course titled ‘Understanding International Relations Theory’ offered online by HSE. This immersive learning experience proved to be exceedingly valuable, as it provided me with a practical understanding of the fundamental concepts and principles underlying the field of international relations. The comprehensive curriculum and interactive nature of the course captivated my interest and ignited a passion within me to further pursue a master’s degree here. Moreover, the positive feedback and endorsements from acquaintances who derived genuine enjoyment from their studies at this institution reinforced my inclination to enrol here.

I was awarded a full scholarship for the master's programme ‘Politics. Economy. Philosophy’ as a result of my performance in an olympiad. I really like the programme.

Not for School, but for Life

The pedagogical approach employed at HSE University resonates deeply with me, particularly due to its pronounced emphasis on practicality—as encapsulated within the institutional motto [Non scholae, sed vitae discimus], which asserts the acquisition of knowledge not solely confined to academic pursuits, but rather extending to the realm of life itself.

The distinctive teaching methodology at HSE engenders an enriching educational experience that fosters not only the absorption of factual information, but also the cultivation of analytical skills

This enables the development of a more discerning and logical mode of thinking. The manifold benefits that arise from this approach greatly intrigue and captivate my intellectual curiosity.

Growth through Study

The process of studying has a profound impact on me, aiding in the pursuit of my ambitions by facilitating the acquisition of essential knowledge and skills crucial for attaining success. Engaging in scholarly pursuits allows me to delve deeper into my chosen field or subject, leading to an enriched understanding that empowers me to make well-informed decisions and take effective actions towards my goals. Furthermore, studying presents an invaluable opportunity for me to learn from experts in the respective field and explore diverse perspectives. This not only broadens my horizons, but also nurtures my critical thinking abilities.

By dedicating myself to studying, I cultivate a multifaceted skill set that includes problem-solving, creativity, and analytical prowess. These skills enable me to overcome challenges and devise innovative solutions along my journey. Additionally, studying enhances various qualities that are indispensable to my personal growth. It strengthens my self-discipline, allowing me to stay focused and committed. It hones my time management and organisational skills, which are essential for effectively balancing my academic pursuits and other aspects of life. These attributes propel me forward on the path towards realising my aspirations. Moreover, studying keeps me abreast of the latest developments in my field, enabling me to adapt to the ever-evolving landscape of knowledge and innovation. This ensures that I remain well-informed and capable of embracing change in my chosen area of study.

Ultimately, the investment of time and effort in diligent study equips me with the necessary tools and comprehensive knowledge to pursue my ambitions with confidence

This paves the way for long-term success in achieving the things I want. Additionally, the university experience is enriched by the presence of fellow scholars and friends, providing valuable opportunities for interpersonal growth, forging lasting friendships, and gaining valuable experiences not only beyond the realm of academia but also in life.

The ‘Russia–Latin America’ Conference

The First International Parliamentary Conference ‘Russia–Latin America’ was held in Moscow on September 29–October 2. The event was attended by more than 200 guests, including parliamentarians from Latin America, the Caribbean, and Russia, representatives of international parliamentary organisations, Russian and Latin American experts, public figures, representatives of state authorities, and diplomatic corps.

The central theme of the conference was ‘Russia and Latin America: Cooperation for a Just World for All’. The attendees discussed cooperation between Russian and Latin American legislators on a wide range of issues, with a focus on expanding economic and humanitarian ties and developing mutually beneficial and equitable partnerships between countries in the parliamentary sphere.

The forum has become a wonderful opportunity to establish new ties and develop cooperation between the countries of Russia and Latin America. I was extremely happy to take part as a volunteer.

After having the opportunity to act as a Vice President in the Model United Nations at the Moscow State Institute of International Relations (MGIMO), I was graciously extended an invitation to participate as a volunteer in the prestigious Latin America–Russia forum.

Anticipating a realistic portrayal of diplomatic interactions and a practical understanding of international relations, I was eager to observe their applicability beyond the confines of theoretical classroom knowledge.

Having experienced the event, I have come to realise that my ambition of becoming a diplomat can one day be fully realised

The immense satisfaction derived from interacting with diplomats hailing from diverse regions and observing the nuanced dialogues conducted during various conferences has further solidified my commitment towards this aspiration.

Overall, my experiences in the Model United Nations and subsequent participation in the Russia–Latin America forum have not only reinforced my professional aspirations, but also solidified my belief in the practical value of such engagements in furthering one's understanding of the field of diplomacy.
