The Academic Supervisor of the Higher School of Economics is Evgeniy Yasin, a prominent Russian economist and statesman.

The Academic Supervisor carries out academic supervision of the University. He represents the University in other academic organizations and initiates organization of large scientific and practical events at the University, including conferences. The Academic Supervisor participates in the realization of the University's development programme. His responsibilities also include presenting an annual report to the University Academic Council on key results of the University's academic activity and strategy for further development. The Academic Supervisor takes part in the solution of issues regarding the improvement of scientific, organizational and managerial activities of the University.
