o    million people died in the first half of 2021, which is 16% more than in the same period of 2020

o    Life expectancy at birth decreased by 1.8 years in 2020 to 71.5 years

o    2020 saw an increase in mortality from all major classes of causes of death except for some infectious and parasitic diseases and neoplasms; the number of deaths from COVID-19 exceeded the number of deaths from external causes

o    More than 90% of those who died from certain infectious and parasitic diseases and 78% of those who died from external causes did not reach the age of 65; among those who died from COVID-19, 28% did not reach it

o    Infant mortality in the first half of 2021 was 4.3 ‰

o    For January-July 2021, according to Rosstat estimates, 204,200 deaths were registered with an established diagnosis of COVID-19
