ANNOTATION The final qualification work is devoted to the comparative analysis of higher education accreditation systems in Russia and BRICS countries (Brazil, India, China, South Africa). The object of research is the system of higher education accreditation functioning in these countries. Special attention is given to identifying patterns, problems, development prospects, as well as finding effective ways to improve the Russian accreditation system. Methodologically, the study relies on analyzing and systematizing normative legal documents, literature review, and comparing national accreditation systems. Historical context study traced the evolution of the institution of accreditation, characterized its global dynamics, and highlighted specific features in BRICS countries. The conducted research revealed both universal and unique characteristics inherent to each country's accreditation system. Common trends indicate similar goals and tasks aimed at confirming educational program quality and compliance with international standards. However, significant diversity exists in organizational forms, legal norms, and evaluation criteria for educational quality. Comparative analysis confirmed the importance of international integration and recognition of national diplomas globally. Study conclusions highlight opportunities for adopting successful foreign practices relevant to improving the Russian accreditation system. Recommendations are based on best practices from BRICS countries and can inform further steps towards optimizing the Russian accreditation process.
