Abstract to master’s thesis of A. Yermilov:West European Policy of Cultural Diversity Management and the Possibility of its Application in the Russian ContextScientific supervisor: Professor Pain E. AGlobalization epoch is marked with dramatic increase of intercultural communication. The main focus is shifted to the interaction between different cultural traditions, but is not simply focused on its long-term existence. In western European countries there is a search of different approaches to management of cultural variety process which will allow to design effective mechanisms of interaction between different cultures migrants and host society. This problem is not current for Russia for the time being even though the priorities can change in the near future. The aim of my research is to find out elements of multicultural policy management policy in Western Europe, applicable for Russia. In the course of research the main content of multiculturalism as management system of cultural diversity was defined. The main approaches to the problem of cultural diversity management of leading western European political parties. Specific features of cultural diversity management in Russia in revealed in the work. There is a detailed analysis of possible borrowing of European policy elements of cultural diversity management for the purposes of making this policy in Russia more effective. According to the research a conclusion has been made that elements of multiculturalism which are present in European policy of cultural diversity management have lead to the appearance of “parallel societies” and anclavisation of cultural minorities. An alternative to multiculturalism in Russia is the policy of interculturalism which is based on the idea of intercultural interaction. Moreover, the author revealed the possibility to manipulate the problems of cultural diversity management for political purposes. Anti-migrant attitudes are used to attract more electorate during election campaigns, thus xenophobic and hostile attitudes to migrants. In the course of research the fact of weak motivation of migrants communities to integration into host society in Russia and Western Europe. Even though, there is a growth of political activity of migrants groups and communities. Nowadays there is no universal model of cultural diversity management, that is why while working out the concept of cultural diversity management in Russia it is sensible to apply only separate fragments of national models cultural diversity management. The key elements of this model can be language, history, culture acquisition; inclusion of migrants’ children into the integration processes through educational systems, formation of suitable condition for migrants’ naturalization. The practical importance of this research is connected with the possibility to use the results for working out and application of national cultural diversity management programs, which are implemented by Federal Migration Service of Russia and other authorities. Separate results of the research were published in the article «Problems and experience of immigrants’ integration into German host society» in the journal “Migration Bridges in Eurаsia” devoted to the international conference «Labour Migration in the Russian Federation: Prevention of Forced Labour, the Promotion of Social-Economical Development, Improvement Regulation».
