Statistical Analysis of Russian Dairy Market

<p>Purpose of thesis work is to conduct a comprehensive statistical analysis of russian dairy market. Object of the study is russian dairy market. The subject of this study is the set of statistical indicators characterizing the market of milk products.</p><p>The paper consists of an introduction, three chapters, conclusion, list of references and applications. In the first chapter the role and place of dairy market was provided. Also the importance of the dairy industry in Russia and in the world was proved. The second chapter presents the economic and statistical analysis of the dairy market in the Russian Federation and the most important aspects of the operation in terms of production and consumption.</p><p>In the third chapter econometric modeling of milk production prices was provided, in particular, there have been used time series models such as additive trend and seasonal model, the Holt&#39;s model and ARIMA models. Also in this chapter was conducted the typology of regions according to the degree of efficiency of dairy production.</p><p>Based on the research of the paper the following conclusions were made:</p><p>1.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; The dairy industry has a special place among the food industry. The importance of dairy market is determined not only by significant production, sales and consumption of milk and dairy products but also by their social significance. Russia is among the world&#39;s top five milk products producers.</p><p>2.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; The industry analysis identified the main reasons hindering the growth of milk production in Russia:</p><p style="margin-left:72.0pt;">o&nbsp;&nbsp; shortage of natural resources;</p><p style="margin-left:72.0pt;">o&nbsp;&nbsp; depreciation of fixed assets;</p><p style="margin-left:72.0pt;">o&nbsp;&nbsp; lack of specialists in the field of strategic planning.</p><p style="margin-left:72.0pt;">o&nbsp;&nbsp; seasonal variations in production volumes, price levels and profitability;</p><p>3. Currently, Russia&#39;s level of consumption of dairy products is growing, and its growth rate is significantly higher than the growth rate of milk production.</p><p>4.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; The price of milk in packages of 3.2% fat has low seasonality. Price for milk production is growing steadily. In May 2014 it should reach 35.05 rubles.</p><p>5.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Classification of Russian regions on the scale of production and consumption of dairy products helped to identify regions with the best results of their activities.</p><p>&nbsp;</p>
