Autodesk Maya Plugin for 3D City Generation Based on Open Data Sources

<p>Main goal of this graduation work is development of the Autodesk Maya Plugin for 3D City Generation Based on Open Data Sources. Program should be integrated into 3D editor and provide simple access to city generation functions and some extra functions, such as map data retrieval via internet, generation of the camera fly-by route, control of the Batch Render process.</p><p>This plugin is part of the AeroState project, which main goal is calculation of the contaminants spread in the city atmosphere. Several city models was generated with this plugin. They were used in AeroState project presentations. Future versions of the plugin will be integrated with OpenFOAM system. This integration will make possible visualization of precisely calculated data about pollutants spread in the atmosphere.</p><p>Autodesk Maya was chosen as 3D modeling platform for this project because it is powerful and easy customizable product. Plugin was written in Python, MEL and MATLAB. OSM maps, DEM heights data and WRF atmospheric data were used as primary data sources. GDAL and NetCDF4 libraries were used to work with DEM and WRF data.</p><p>Plugin developed during this graduation work has all required functional and was successfully integrated into AeroState project workflow. &nbsp;</p>
